You already have a quote coming your way. This page covers the details behind it: why we do things the way we do, how scheduling works, and what to expect from your coating.
Learn more about ceramic coating, how it protects your vehicle’s paint, and what to expect before and after the application process.
We’ve been professionally detailing and protecting vehicles in Hawaii since 2011, and applying ceramic coatings since 2013. Over the years, we’ve worked on thousands of vehicles and learned what actually holds up in Hawaii’s sun, salt, rain, hard water, and everyday driving.
We don’t base our recommendations only on what a bottle or brochure says. We base them on years of seeing the same products, vehicles, and customers come back through our doors.
Ceramic coatings need time to cure properly, so we don’t rush your vehicle out the door just to free up a parking space.
Coating appointments begin at 8:45 AM, and your vehicle stays securely indoors overnight while the coating cures in a controlled environment. Pickup is typically at 8:45 AM the following morning.
Need to get on with your life while we have your vehicle? We offer a complimentary loaner car with qualifying coating services, based on availability.
That means you can drop your vehicle off, take ours, and come back the next morning without having to arrange rides, beg a friend, or explain to your spouse why they’re now your personal Uber driver.
Loaner vehicles are returned at pickup, typically by 8:45 AM.
Please note: Loaner vehicles are not available for Xkote services.
A coating is for protection and easier maintenance.. not permission to stop washing your car.
Our maintenance programs are designed to make long-term care easier for those who aren’t inclined to wash their own vehicles. Whether you want monthly washes, more thorough quarterly services, or an occasional reset to bring everything back up to standard, we can help keep things on track.
The goal is simple: protect the investment you already made and keep your vehicle looking the way it should without having to become a professional detailer yourself.
Every coating customer should know how to take care of what they just paid for.
Instead of handing you a generic care sheet and sending you on your way, we walk you through the basics of properly washing, drying, maintaining, and protecting your vehicle.
We’ll explain what matters, what doesn’t, what products make sense, and what habits are most likely to cause problems. No chemistry degree required.
We operate by appointment 7 days a week (minus major holidays) so we can properly schedule the time, space, and staff needed for each vehicle.
Ceramic coating appointments typically begin at 8:45 AM, and stay with us overnight for proper curing, with pickup typically at 8:45 AM the following morning. We can accommodate early drop-offs or late pickups, especially if the loaner car is not needed. If you need some flexibility, let's talk about it!
Our schedule can fill quickly, especially on weekends, so booking ahead is always recommended. If you have a specific date in mind, sooner is better than “Any chance you can squeeze me in tomorrow?”
A 10–20% deposit is required to reserve your appointment, depending on the total cost of the service.
Deposits are refundable when an appointment is canceled with at least 48 hours' notice. Appointments may also be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice.
No-shows and last-minute cancellations will forfeit their deposit.
We reserve the time, staff, and shop space specifically for your vehicle, so the deposit helps keep the calendar fair for everyone..and keeps us from staring sadly at an empty bay.
Need to keep moving while we have your vehicle? A Complimentary loaner car is available with qualifying ceramic coating services, based on availability.
You can take our vehicle when you drop yours off and return it when you pick your vehicle up, typically the following morning.
Loaner cars are not available for Xkote services at this time.
We understand that plans change. We just ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
No-shows and last-minute cancellations will forfeit their deposit.
Larger services require us to reserve significant time, staffing, and shop space, so the more notice you can give us, the better.
No, interior detailing is not normally included in the ceramic coating quote that you received, unless you specifically asked for it. Due to time constraints, we can sometimes offer a quick interior detail.
We are talking just the basics, like a vacuum, a wipe down and window cleaning. Nothing that's going to take us hours.. the focus is on getting that ceramic coating applied properly to the exterior properly!
Ceramic coating is a liquid protective coating that bonds to the surfaces of your vehicle and creates a durable, slick, easier-to-maintain layer of protection.
It can improve gloss, water behavior, chemical resistance, UV resistance, and resistance to everyday environmental contamination.
The biggest benefit is simple: better protection and easier maintenance.
It does not make your vehicle maintenance-free, scratch-proof, or immune to bird poop. We wish.
Bottom line, ceramic coatings don't replace an owner who doesn't care for their car. It's meant to make their life easier!
Ceramic coating is applied by hand after the vehicle has been thoroughly cleaned and properly prepared.
Depending on the package, coatings can be applied to more than just paint. Our services may include protection for paint, exterior glass, trim, wheels and exterior lighting.
Certain packages also include paint correction before coating installation.
After application, the vehicle remains indoors overnight so the coating has proper time to cure before returning to normal use.
That depends on how the vehicle is used, where it is parked, and how well it is maintained. The best analogy I give: Vehicles that are show pieces- and never leave the garage can go 5, 7, 10+ years… and vehicles that are parked under a tree and not cared for.. weeks? Months? Your entire paint job won't last either!
Our ceramic coating options generally range from approximately 2–3 years to 3–5 years, depending on the service selected, based on good care.. don't worry we’ll either teach you how or we can enter you into our maintenance services!
Those are realistic service-life ranges, not a promise that the vehicle can be ignored for five years.
Regular washing and proper maintenance have a major impact on how well any coating performs over time.
Ceramic coating protects the clear coat already on your vehicle.
Xkote is different. It is a professional clear-coat restoration system designed for paint with fading, oxidation, wear, or clear-coat damage that polishing alone may not properly correct.
We have also seen great results applying it on brand new cars! Especially since the paint jobs are coming from the factories, thinner and thinner. So it will boost the thickness and UV resistance of the original clear coat and create another sacrificial barrier on top of the original factory clear coat. Then we can ceramic coat it to provide additional benefits and ease of cleaning.
When Xkote (and ceramic) fails, they can be buffed off leaving the original surface underneath it virtually intact.
Xkote is a much more involved process and typically requires approximately 4–5 days in the shop.
Wash it. Properly!
That really is the most important part.
Ceramic coating makes your vehicle easier to maintain, but dirt, salt, hard-water minerals, bird droppings, tree sap, and other contamination still need to be removed.
We recommend regular washing, proper drying techniques, and avoiding habits that unnecessarily scratch or contaminate the finish.
Every coating customer also receives personalized care guidance, and our maintenance programs are available if washing your own car ranks somewhere below doing your taxes.
Paint correction is the process of mechanically polishing the clear coat to further clean & prep the surface for ceramic coating adhesion. It also can reduce defects such as swirls, light scratches, haze, oxidation, and other lighter surface imperfections.
The goal is to prep the surface for ceramic coating, not to make it showroom perfect and get every scratch! The issue isn't our skill, it's the fact that the amount of clear coat applied to your vehicle from the factory is thin and finite. You need as much of that UV stability as possible and chasing scratches and defects abrade away the clear coat and do damage only seen further down the road.
Not every vehicle needs the same amount of correction. Some vehicles need very little, while others need significantly more work. We price our services with the minimum, and we can discuss going further if wanted.
We recommend correction based on what the paint actually needs rather than automatically trying to sell you the biggest polishing package possible.
Ceramic coatings are only part of what we do.
Eco Wash Hawaii also provides services including Xkote clear-coat restoration, paint correction, paintless dent repair, wheel repair, emblem and small-parts refinishing, bumper and paint touch-up work, sun-faded panel restoration, PPF and vinyl-wrap removal, mold remediation, interior detailing, exterior detailing, and ongoing vehicle maintenance services.
Because we handle a wide variety of cosmetic automotive work, we can often address multiple issues during the same visit instead of sending you to three different shops and hoping everyone plays nicely together.
